The BC2x1SW is an optical switch designed to offer system designers increased flexibility in their fibre installations. Two separate optical inputs A and B are fed into the single slot
BC Series card.
Internal logic on the card then senses the light levels of the inputs and will switch from a main to reserve path in the event of signal loss. By routing two separate diverse fibres to the A and B inputs automatic switchover will occur in the event of a failure at the upstream transmission point. The sensitivities at which the changeover occurs can be user defined to suit the
installation increasing user confidence.
A BCSPLIT is used upstream to provide a 50:50 optical feed to the separate optical fibres.
Passive splitters can be provided with different ratios of output light levels.
The BC2x1SW occupies a single slot in the BC100-3RU 19" rack-mounting frame which can hold up to 15 single slot cards. Some BC Series processing cards have dual functionality allowing up to 30 channels of video to be transmitted or received from a single 3RU frame.
Signal and card monitoring is achieved through SNMP monitoring in the BM101 network card.
Alternatively GP-Output alarms can be triggered via the BM100 module.
For stand alone applications the BC2x1SW can be housed in an individual rugged enclosure.
The BCSPLIT1xN range is a passive device for the splitting of a single optical input power into multiple optical outputs and acts as a power splitter.
Based on planar lightwave circuit technology (PLC), BCSLPIT1xN, offers superior optical performance including low insertion loss and low polarisation dependent loss.
Wide operating wavelengths and temperature ranges ensures a highly reliable and stable optical performance for critical signal situations.
